New Method of Detecting Utility Survey - Report |
|
| News content: |
To many new engineering technology fans, nothing is more excited than getting insights from the speech of Ir Dr. Peter Tse Wai Tat, Associate Professor of Department of Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Management, City University of Hong Kong (CityU), in the seminar "New Method of Detecting Utility Defects" held in CityU on 10 January 2006. Totally 300 engineers, safety practitioners, government staff, consultants and roadwork contractors have attended the seminar (Full house!).
According to explanation from Dr. Tse, this breakthrough method makes use of most advanced equipment and instruments with application of cost-effective "Cylindrical Guided Wave" to probe the underground utility defects. More importantly, only a small hole is needed to be excavated over the process. It not only minimizes the impact to the traffic and pedestrians, but also sharply reduces the manpower and economic costs together with relieving pollution. His detailed illustrations have stirred interests of many participants. Dr Tse is going to apply patent for this new technology.
However, Dr. Tse also advised that the new method will require further on-the-job testing before official launching. Interested parties are invited to sponsor further research.
At the end of the seminar, Ir Dr. King Wong, Honorary Secretary of HKIUS, has express gratitude by presenting souvenir to Dr Tse which symbolize gratitude on his endeavor in this joint seminar organized by HK CityU, SEAM, HKIE-SSC, HKIUS, UTI and HKAAST. |
